The Order We Work In

1. Rollers. Steel wheels in steel track, replaced with sealed nylon. Biggest single change on almost every door.
2. Hardware. Every hinge, bracket and fastener checked and tightened. Dull work, real difference.
3. Lubrication. Springs, bearing plates and hinges, with the right product in the right places. Never the track.
4. Balance. A door that slams the last foot is loading every part on it. That is spring tension, and it is a repair rather than a tweak.
5. Then the opener, if it is still the loudest thing left.

Why That Order

Because each step is cheaper than the one after it, and because noise is usually a part telling you it is wearing out. Quieting a door by addressing what is making the sound leaves you with a door in better condition. Quieting it by replacing the motor leaves the worn parts exactly where they were.
